Battle Chronicles

MissionEternal's Account

The capital of STIRIA remains in the hands of the vile Xenos cult that has plunged the planet into chaos. However, a determined push by Skitarii troops managed to establish a bridgehead on the planet surface, further securing the space elevator, potentially enabling the massed landings of troops to reconquer the contested lands.

This was my second venture with the Skitarii Eradication Cohort. This is not a subtle army - the plan was to punch Martin’s Genestealer Cultist into their stupid faces, as hard as I could. And it worked (mostly). I was able to secure great firing lanes, and kept the Cultists on the back foot for most of the game; my Dunecrawlers and Kastellan Robots destroyed any units that dare to challenge the mid-field, and my Sydonian Dragoons tied up critical units in the Cultists’ deployment zone for a turn or so. And while my infantry was mostly destroyed in a long attrition game, I still had a sizeable force on the table by the end of the game.

Still, the game was a coin-toss until turn 4.5; Martin kept the advantage of superior numbers, and never let up the pressure. My main advantage was the fact that I denied him deep strike opportunities by screening out 2/3rds of the board for most of the game.

A fun one! I like how this army works, and don’t see anything I’d want to change right now. I might try a different detachment, though, as I am missing uppy-downy-capablities.
