M41.26.04.21 - Scavenging for Archaeotech

An ominous task: the Mission Eternal Chapter was asked by Inquisitor Vanta Black to raid a trans-orbital archive operated by the Mechanicus near the Forgeworld AUSTRIACUS MAJOR, and destroy a specific set of data stacks. What they contained, or why the Holy Ordos wanted them destroyed, they didn't learn or ask.

A small task force of the Chapter, in heraldry-free armour, entered the facility and went to work, setting magnet bombs to the targets, when they were surprised by hard defenders. Their sudden presence could only mean that the Archive was under constant guard by another Space Marine Chapter, and that reinforcements were underway.

The Mission Eternal quickly engaged their enemies, purely to buy enough time for the magnetic charges to do their work and destroy the records as ordered by the Inquisitor. Despite taking heavy losses in fierce close-confines combat, they succeeded, and the survivors successfully withdrew to their landing craft and the blackness of space...
